Vintage Santa Clara Pueblo Hand Coiled Pottery

This hand-coiled piece features intricate geometric designs created through deep carving. It originated from an estate and bears the signature "Daniel 21" of the talented artist, Daniel Begay, who learned the art of pottery from his parents, Harrison Begay Jr and Marie Suazo. Hailing from Santa Clara Pueblo, Daniel beautifully combines elements of Dine and Santa Clara cultures and traditions in his work. This piece is meticulously crafted using traditional coil-building and stone polishing techniques, and fired in the traditional way. With an MBA from The University of New Mexico, Daniel is a true master of his craft. His wife, Melodie, and daughters, Violet and Ayani, are the inspiration behind his signature, "Daniel," followed by the year the piece was created.
