Lyle is a third-generation silversmith who began working alongside his father, Joe Piaso Jr., after graduating from college. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, he is Diné (Navajo). His maternal clan is Kinyaanii (Towering House People), and he is born of the Ta’Baahi (Water's Edge Clan) on his father's side. Lyle attended Chinle High School in Chinle, Arizona, before continuing his education at the Community College in Tsaile, Arizona. After earning a degree in accounting, he moved back to Albuquerque.
